The AEB vision

THE AEB VISION

AEB Alternative Fuel Electronics, leader since 1984 in the design and production of electronic devices to convert vehicles to LPG and Natural Gas, constantly continues with growing enthusiasm to invest in research and the development of new solutions to offer its customers.

The main objective of AEB is to reduce as far as possible vehicle emissions and fuel consumption to fight pollution and protect the environment.

AEB research has recently focused attention on the study of new devices to convert vehicles featuring direct injection and to ensure improved integration of the gas system on vehicles with OBDII diagnostics.

Over the past years, use of direct petrol injection systems has gradually increased; three main aspects have encouraged car manufacturers to adopt these new concept engines:

  • a significant reduction in fuel consumption
  • improved performance
  • less pollutant emissions.
The solution used to convert to Natural Gas and LPG put forward by AEB further enhances the advantages listed above. This sophisticated type of engine fuel supply can only be converted using a dedicated system that electronically controls injection. It must be able to manage alternative fuels reliably and efficiently as well as preventing damage to the injectors.

As for indirect injection engines, AEB has further developed the present electronic injection control unit so that information can be received from the original petrol control unit via the OBDII diagnostics outlet.
The main advantages of this development are:

  • automatic recognition by the control unit of the various OBDII connection standards;
  • more information available to the installer regarding vehicle function (the integrators are displayed directly on the gas system calibration tool - PC software) so the system is easier to tune;
  • the necessary adaptability (while running on gas) to compensate the mechanical tolerances of the gas system components, the differences between various gas qualities and long-term variations (for example, filter efficiency deterioration, etc.)

Inspired by the on-going intensification of environmental problems, AEB research is looking beyond these technologies and is continuing with the development of LPG/Natural Gas sequential injectors for Flexfuel engines.
